We have been campaigning and organising for better births for women since 2012.
Run by bestselling author Milli Hill, we began as a network of antenatal discussion groups, linked up by social media.
For nearly 9 years our global network connected pregnant women together to share stories, expertise and positivity about childbirth. With our groups we aimed to challenge the epidemic of negativity and fear that surrounds modern birth, and help change birth for the better.
The PBM began in 2012 as one small meeting in the UK living room of writer and campaigner Milli Hill, and quickly snowballed into a global network of hundreds of ‘real life’ groups, with a massive social media presence too. What began as a grassroots movement became a continuously growing global organisation.
In 2021 Milli decided to close down the network, partly due to the pandemic. The PBM remains as a presence on social media, and we are building a new range of online courses to continue to support and inform women and families.
Milli also continues to campaign and speak on the subject of birth. Her books, The Positive Birth Book, and Give Birth like a Feminist, are both bestsellers.

About the Founder
Milli Hill set up the Positive Birth Movement from her living room in 2012, motivated by both her own birth experiences, and her growing frustration whenever she heard the words, “They didn’t let me” in a birth story. She has since gone on to become a well recognised voice for women in the birth world, writing extensively in the mainstream press (BestDaily, Telegraph, Guardian), and speaking regularly at national and international conferences and events. Her two books for pregnant women, The Positive Birth Book, and Give Birth Like a Feminist, are both bestsellers, she is also the creator of the popular Visual Birth Plan from the Positive Birth Book. In 2020 she launches Your Positive Birth, a new series of online courses. She has three children and lives in Somerset.
