I’m Sarah and I’m an Independent Midwife, based in Windsor Berkshire. The birth of a baby is a life changing event and my own three very different birth experiences have taught me how amazing, uplifting and beautiful birth can be, but also how, without the right support, how frightening and disempowering it can be also. I was so lucky to be cared for throughout my second birth by the same midwife, who I came to know and trust, and on the day my son was born, she was there by my side and when I said “I can’t do this’ she was the one to whisper in my ear “Yes, Yes you can”. I believe passionately that women and their families are offered care tailored to their individual beliefs, and that respect and faith in the woman’s ability to birth her baby, in the way that feels right for her, is fundamental to a positive birth experience. I have a holistic approach to pregnancy and birth and I’m passionate about providing evidence based care for parents to be, to enable them to make the best decisions for their pregnancy. As an IBCLC (Lactation Consultant) and Tongue Tie Specialist, I am able to offer evidence based support to help mothers in their feeding journey, antenatal sessions and postnatal sessions for breastfeeding support. I travel up to an hour to support families, and support ranges from one off antenatal or postnatal appointments, support for consultant appointments or a full package of care including support for your baby’s birth, whether at home or hospital. I am also a Trustee for the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, and Regional Supervisor for the Breastfeeding Counsellors in the East region. I have provided breastfeeding workshops for the Daisy Foundation Antenatal Teachers and run workshops for Birth workers throughout the year. I was recently humbled to be asked to support my step-daughter at the birth of our Grandson, and he’s now my little cover star!
