Hello and welcome to the Exeter Positive Birth Movement!
We meet at Countess Wear Village Hall on the last Thursday of every month between 6.30pm-8.30pm. I’m Ellie, I’m an Obstetrician, Antenatal Teacher, Hypnobirthing Instructor and Positive Birth Enthusiast. I am the facilitator of the Exeter Positive Birth Movement Group and look forward to welcoming you to our evenings that aim to leave you feeling excited, empowered and positive about birth. I am passionate that all births, no matter which mode or place, can be positive and these group sessions aim to bring together expectant parents to chat about their thoughts and feelings surrounding birth in a positive manner and support each other during this exciting time in their lives. These meetings are a wonderful coming together of community to support, inform and share- from all stages of pregnancy and parenthood. I want to ensure expectant parents feel knowledgeable about their choices in pregnancy and birth and confident to make decisions right for them, their pregnancy and their baby. I am very proud to be the only Obstetrician in the UK who is also a Hypnobirthing Instructor and PBM group facilitator and am excited to help create a safe space where you can discuss topics important to you. I also have a popular instagram page: @maternitymedic , where I share positive pregnancy and birth content which might be of interest to you.
STORIES
Every month we invite one or two couples to share their birth story, to form the first half of the meeting. This is a hugely valuable part of the meetings. If you are interested in coming along to share your story, then please email Ellie to arrange.
MONTHLY TOPICS
We create a space to hold discussions around a monthly topic, and will bring some prompts and activities to get people talking. We welcome any questions, whether relating to the monthly topic or not. It is your space to explore what a positive means to you!
CONTRIBUTIONS
The group is not for profit – monetary contributions go towards venue hire, refreshments and annual PBM group membership fee. Whilst we meet remotely, your contributions can be made here, and will pay for the cost of the monthly zoom package instead of venue hire, and the annual PBM membership. There is a suggested contribution of £4 per person, but no one will be turned away if they cannot contribute, If you feel the group has been especially helpful to you and you can afford to put in a little more, you will be helping those who cannot, and ensure the group continues.
I really look forward to welcoming you to our group. If you would like any more information, please email or message me below!
